FIBA's new president eager to strengthen FIBA

The newly elected president of FIBA, the world governing body for basketball, said on Monday that he would work to improve FIBA and basketball. Yvan Mainini said that he would exert efforts to strengthen FIBA and enhance organizations.

 Mainini also said that the ongoing World Basketball Championship hosted by Turkey would set an example for the whole world.
Describing the world tournament as a qualified sports event, FIBA's new president Yvan Mainini said that the Turkish Basketball Federation had grown remarkably in the last 20 years and it had become one of the most successful federations in the world.

Turkish films screened in Sarajevo

Two Turkish films were screened in a film festival in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, on Saturday. "Kosmos" by Reha Erdem and "Bal (Honey)" by Semih Kaplanoglu were the two Turkish films screened in the 16th Sarajevo Film Festival. The festival began on July 23 and will end on July 31.
"Tales from Kars" by Ozcan Alper, "Vavien" by Durul and Yagmur Taylan, and "Married to the Camera" by Doha Kilcioglu are the other Turkish films joining the festival.

Turkish pianist and orchestra to open Austrian Festival

Pianist and composer Fazil Say and philharmonic orchestra will give the opening concert of an Austrian festival on Sunday.
Turkish pianist and composer Fazil Say and Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra will take stage on the first day of the Festival of Salzburg, a Medieval city of 150,000 population where Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born. Celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, the festival will end on August 30.
