TURKEY ON ILO'S BLACK LIST
International Labor Organization has included Turkey on its black list due to the country's failure to keep a government promise to make amendments to labor union laws that might expand the rights of workers.

JACKPOT IN SUPER LOTTO NEARS 12 MILLION TL

Jackpot in Turkey's Super Lotto 6/54 is expected to reach to as high as 12 million Turkish liras (around 7.6 million USD). 7.9 million TL prize from last week passed to this week's lotto when no one could guess six numbers correctly out of 54.

HEALTH MINISTER WARNS
Health Minister Recep Akdag said regarding EHEC outbreak that killed several people in Europe that they were following developments and took necessary measures on the issue. Akdag said, "But EHEC bacteria could come to Turkey as well." Akdag warned citizens against EHEC bacteria and said that they should not eat salad out for example at restaurants. Vegetable must be washed well, he said. Germany, Britain, France, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and the United States are countries where the disease has occurred.

TERRORIST IN KASTAMONU SURRENDERS
One of PKK terrorists who attacked on convoy of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party when returning from Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's election rally in northern province of Kastamonu surrendered to security forces. One police officer died and one other was wounded in the attack.

MOMENTS OF HOROR AT AIRPORT
An unbelievable incident took place in at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport in May. A person who wiretapped the tower of the airport gave directives to landing planes of Turkish Airlines to turn another place. The pilots changed the direction of the flight. The tower warned the pilots. The pirate wiretapper five minutes later wanted to give other directives, however air traffic controllers warned the planes and prevented a probable disaster.

HE GAVE MARDINWOOD PROMISE
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized Peace & Democracy Party (BDP) in southeastern province of Adiyaman. Erdogan said BDP leaned back on terrorist organization, "shall I tolerate those who attacked police, children and Imams?" Erdogan asked. Addressing the people in Mardin, Erdogan said, "there is Hollywood in the United States, Bollywood in India and now there will be Mardinwood in this city."

TEMPERATURES TO RISE
Temperatures will rise 2-4 degrees and will be at 31, 32 degrees Celsius which is above seasonal averages. However, it will rain on Friday and later will be at seasonal averages. Rain will particularly be influential in Edirne, Kirklareli and Tekirdag provinces.

MILITARY JURISDICTION ADMITS DOCUMENT DENIED BY BASBUG
Retired Gen. Ilker Basbug, former chief of General Staff, who spoke to Milliyet daily denied allegations which said that he intervened in presidential elections held in 2007. However General Staff military prosecutor's office admitted presence of a document which constituted the basis of allegations in its petition sent to Istanbul chief prosecutor's office on May 6, 2009.

Replying to questions regarding EHEC bacteria which affected European countries, Health Minister Recep Akdag said they were following developments and took necessary measures on the issue. Akdag said, "But EHEC bacteria could come to Turkey as well." Akdag warned citizens against EHEC bacteria and said that vegetables must be washed well. People should not eat salad out for example at restaurants, he said.

THERE WILL BE MASSACRE, RUN AWAY TO TURKEY
Bashar al-Assad sent his army to the town near border with Turkey in which 120 policemen were killed. Massacre of the police in the town which is 20 km away from Turkish border had an impact of bomb in Syria. Syrian government said, "we will not pity those who killed our police" and signalled military operation. Syrian opponents told those living in the region that soldiers of al-Assad would make a very big massacre and warned them to run away to Turkey.

KILLER BACTERIA MAY COME TO TURKEY
Health Minister Recep Akdag warned against outbreak of enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) in Turkey. Speaking to reporters, Akdag made important statements about outbreak of EHEC which killed people in Europe and in the United States. Akdag said, "EHEC may cause bloody diarrhea and course of the disease may be very serious. This disease is not in Turkey at the moment, but it may come at any minute. We are taking necessary precautions but there are still measures which we all can take individually. We can wash our hands with soap, wash the vegetables in water in which vinegar is added and cook the meals well."

TURKISH PRESIDENT CALLS FOR CHANGE IN EUROPE
Turkish President Abdullah Gul called for "change in Europe," saying global power balances had shifted. "The power balance has moved to Asia. It is time to re-think Europe. It is time for change," he told a conference as part his visit to Poland, which is set to assume the rotating helm of the European Union.

SUSPECTED PERP IN ATTACK ON PREMIER'S CONVOY SURRENDERS
A suspected attacker in an armed assault on a convoy of the Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan has turned himself in. The suspect was identified as Cihan T. The attack on the premier's election convoy in the Black Sea province of Kastamonu left one police officer dead.

EUROPE'S EHEC RISK FOR TURKEY, HEALTH MINISTER WARNS
Turkish Health Minister Recep Akdag has warned that a deadly e.coli strain in Europe might pose a serious threat on Turkey. "The strain might reach our country. We are taking any measures to prevent that from happening," Akdag told reporters. The deadly outbreak killed at least 25 people in Europe so far.

TURKISH AIRLINES PLANE MAKES EMERGENCY LANDING
A Turkish Airlines Airbus 319 was forced to make an emergency landing when one of its cockpit windows cracked on a flight from Istanbul to the southeastern province of Mardin. The plane safely landed at the Malatya Airport for repair. The passengers resumed the flight after the cracked window was replaced.

I WILL NOT TOLERATE THOSE WHO KILLED IMAM
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan asked to journalists who found his stance against Peace & Democracy Party (BDP) as very strong, "shall I tolerate those who killed policemen, those who attacked the car in which there are women and children? Shall I tolerate those who burned face of 13-14 years old children and those who killed Imam?" he said.

THE BIGGEST SATISFACTION IS IN HEALTH
Health Minister Recep Akdag said rate of satisfaction over the health services increased to 73 percent. He said this figure was 39 percent in 2002. Akdag said, "the service is well however number of doctors and nurses should be increased to make the system perfect."

PROSECUTORS MAY QUESTION EVREN AGAIN
Officials said that investigation regarding retired military chief Kenan Evren, who led the coup in 1980 and then became president, did not end. Prosecutors earlier questioned Evren on charges of spoiling constitutional order, overthrowing government and parliament, but they may question Evren again within the scope of investigation into the 1980 military coup in Turkey.

ERDOGAN ON MILITARY SERVICE WITH PAYMENT
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he was discussing the issue of military service with payment with the General Staff. Regarding the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) chairman Kemal Kilicdaroglu's statements that the ruling was discussing the issue with retired military officials, Erdogan said that he was not holding talks on the matter with retired ones, but military officials who were working on the matter.
